Beef burrito

Beef burrito

Burritos are a really tasty treat and highly customizable because then you can decide individually how spicy, cheesy or meaty it should be. Everybody is happy when they eat burritos!

Start out by preparing the guacamole

Ingredients for guacmole

1 large ripe avocado
0.5 clove of garlic
0.5 small onion
1 small red chili (or to taste)
0.5 lime (juice only)
freshly ground black pepper

Peel and de-pit the avocado. peel and finely chop garlic and onion. Remove seeds from chili and chop it finely as well. Put everything in a bowl and mash the ingredients together with a fork. Stir in lime juice and season to taste with salt and pepper. Cover the bowl and set aside (because of the lime juice it will not go brown!)

Next up is a basic tomato salsa

Ingredients for tomato salsa

2 ripe tomatoes
0.5 onion
handfull of cilantro

Chop the tomatoes. Peel and chop the onion finely. Chop the cilantro (you can substitute with parsley if you are so unlucky that you are one of those that can't take the taste of cilantro).
Mix all three ingredients in a bowl, cover and set aside.

The beef is up!


500g (1lb) ground beef
1 small onion
1 clove of garlic
0.5 red/green chili
worcestershire sauce
tabasco sauce
cayenne pepper
1 tsp concentrated tomato paste
2 tbsp olive oil

Start out by preparing the veggies: Peel and chop onion and garlic finely. Remove seeds from chili and chop it finely as well.
Heat the olive oil in a pan and fry the onion until soft, then add the beef, garlic and chili and fry for a couple of minutes. Add a pinch of cayenne, a good splash of worcestershire sauce and a dash of tabasco sauce and cook until your liking. (Meat must be cooked! I like to turn up the heat and give the meat a little bit of burned color.
Finally you add the tomato paste mix weel and take of heat.

Ingredients for assembly

8 flour tortillas
2 handfulls of thinly sliced iceberg lettuce
2 handfulls of grated cheddar
4 tbsp sour cream

Place the warm tortilla on a plate put some of the beef filling in the middle a bit of cheddar on top, a lane of tomato salsa on one side of the beef and a lane of guacamole on the other side top that with some iceberg strips and a some sour cream. Fold the end away from you upwards and then fold each of the sides so they meet on the middle - and that's it - eat it!
